Season No. 11 - The Pragmatist

For this 11th vintage, we called on Hubert de Boüard: winegrower, oenologist, château owner in Saint Emilion and Lalande de Pomerol, winemaking consultant, Vice-Grand Maître of the Commanderies de Bordeaux, President of the Grands Crus Classés de Saint Emilion, etc.

Hubert de Boüard knows every aspect of wine, and is the worthy descendent of a long line of winegrowers.

It is undoubtedly this background, deeply rooted in centuries of experience, that accounts for his empirical vision of viticulture. Present all year long at Arsac, travelling many miles in the process, Hubert de Boüard was constantly pacing through the vines, very close to the terroir and in tune with nature. His discipline unquestionably paid off 2016, a year full of surprises in both the vineyard and the cellar, in what ended up being an ideal growing season.

My team and myself sincerely thank Hubert de Boüard to have involved us in this adventure, which showed us more than ever the importance of close observation – which must guide all action – as well as humility.
